On 24 November 2012 at TPO (Bologna, Italy) musicians, writers/readers and performers took turns on stage in a tribute to John Cage.
The idea of EXIT FROM THE CAGE was to deal with the work and thought of John Cage, in the belief that his optimistic vision of the future of music offered more encouraging prospects.
Much of the myth of Cage is based on the idea that his work constitutes a formidable weapon aimed at the destruction of all limits, convention, shared rule.
In fact, Cage has stimulated musicians and audiences to go beyond the assumptions and habits of mind, to transform their way of making music and listening.
Anarchy and search for new forms and materials, chaos and numbers, freedom and discipline; “Now that things are so simple there’s so much to do”.
This disc has a few sets presented for the first time that evening.
